Anglesea Family
From playgroup mornings and early learning to active school-holiday adventures, Anglesea offers practical ways for children and their grown-ups to learn, play and spend time with others. Local families can also access early-years health and parenting support close to home.
🌈 Play, learning and child care
Anglesea Community House — Playgroup
This parent-run volunteer playgroup gives children space to play and learn while parents connect with other local families. Sessions are held on Thursdays from 10.00 am to 11.30 am during school terms. Registration details are available through Anglesea Community House.
ACH Child Care — Anglesea Community House
Qualified educators provide child-led, play-based learning for toddlers through to preschool-aged children at this registered not-for-profit service. Family grouping allows children of different ages to learn alongside one another. Care operates on weekdays from 9.15 am to 2.15 pm for 48 weeks each year, with planned closures. A waitlist applies, and eligible families may be able to use the Child Care Subsidy.
Surf Coast Shire Council and Meli — Smalltalk Playgroup
Parents and carers can join their young children at a facilitated playgroup led by a qualified early-years professional. Activities and discussions focus on children’s learning and development. Surf Coast Shire Council delivers the program in partnership with Meli, and families register their interest through Meli.
🔥 School-holiday adventure
YMCA Anglesea Discovery Camp — School Holiday Programs
Children aged 6–14 can take part in School’s Out and Kids Go Bush day programs on selected Victorian school-holiday dates. Program days run from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm and require advance booking. Check the events page for current dates, and pack lunch, snacks, a hat, drink bottle and spare clothes for each child.
❤ Early-years health and parenting support
Surf Coast Shire Council — Maternal and Child Health Service
Families with children from birth to school age can access free health and wellbeing support covering feeding, growth, development, physical and mental health, parenting and family violence. Appointments are available through Council at Anglesea Kindergarten, 1 McMillan Street. The centre is at ground level and is accessible for prams and wheelchairs; a hearing loop can be requested.
📌 Before you attend

- Register or book ahead, particularly for child care, facilitated playgroup sessions and holiday programs.
- Check current dates, fees, subsidy eligibility and planned closures directly with the provider.
